About

Snapchat-20140418122221-1I am a Masters of Library Science student at Indiana University with a specialization in Children’s and Young Adult Services.

This blog is devoted to my exploration of emotionally-intense young adult literature for my Children’s and Youth Literature Seminar class. I tend to use a lot of crying gifs, because, well, I’m crying a lot (and gifs make me feel like I’m in Harry Potter).  As a result of breaking my heart repeatedly through these devastating and heart-wrenching readings, I hope to gain some sort of understanding about what it is that makes these books so engaging to youth.

I like other books besides contemporary realism as well; in fact, contemporary realism probably isn’t even my favorite.  I’m a big fan of fantasy, graphic novels, and a touch of romance.

When I’m not reading, I can be found knitting, practicing yoga, Netflix binging, buying too many cardigans (is there such a thing?), or playing with my cat.  I’m essentially a stereotypical librarian sans glasses. You can find me on Twitter @kkaymullinnix

I welcome any comments and suggestions for future readings. 🙂
